Dr. Melissa James, PsyD, LPC

Dr. Melissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas and recently earned her Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD).

She has a heart for working with individuals, families, children, and teens. Melissa counsels from a person-centered, cognitive-behavioral perspective, believing that each individual already possesses the inner resources needed to grow and flourish. Her approach emphasizes curiosity, creativity, empathy, and intuition. She also recognizes that our thoughts and behaviors shape how we feel in any given situation, and by integrating both cognitive and behavioral strategies, she helps clients develop new, adaptive ways of thinking and responding to life’s challenges.

Outside of her work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and exploring new ways to support her clients through ongoing research and learning. She values her faith and believes in bringing a sense of joy and fun into every aspect of life.

Melissa holds a Doctoral Degree (PsyD) in Psychology from California Southern University, a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a Master’s of Science in Psychology with a concentration in child and adolescent development. She is CISM trained, FBI Resiliency Trained, EMDR Trained, CCTP Trained, CATP Trained, and Telemedicine Certified. 

Melissa has obtained an array of experience from working in a private practice setting, hospital setting, and collaborating with non-profit organizations. Melissa specializes in treating all ages for issues including Anxiety & Depression, Family & Blended Family counseling, First Responder & Veteran counseling, Trauma and Self-Harm, Child & Adolescent Issues, and Substance Use.

At this time, Melissa is seeing all of her clients through a secure Telehealth online platform.
