Our Philosophy

Seeking counseling can feel intimidating — and we understand that.  That’s why we work hard to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you can safely explore any part of your life. Growth happens in the context of healthy, supportive relationships, and the benefit of professional counseling is just that: a relationship with a trained, licensed therapist who provides care in a confidential, compassionate environment. All of our therapists are licensed in the State of Texas, and Dr. James is also licensed in Florida.

Our name, 246 Counseling, is inspired by Proverbs 24:6:

By wise guidance you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory.(ESV)
 

Life can feel like a battle at times. We believe lasting victory is found not by going it alone, but through meaningful connection and wise counsel. That’s why we walk alongside our clients—meeting them where they are and supporting them each step of the way. It’s a privilege we take seriously.

As a group of Christian therapists, our practice is rooted in a biblical worldview, but we welcome and serve clients from all beliefs and backgrounds. We do not impose our faith on others—therapy is about your values, not ours. For those who want to incorporate faith into their treatment, we’re more than happy to do so.

At 246 Counseling, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy should be as unique as the individual. That’s why we take the time to get to know you, tailor your care to your specific needs, and work with you to set and achieve meaningful, realistic goals.
