Seeking counseling can be scary, which is why we work hard to create a safe space for our clients to explore any and all areas of their lives. It is a proven fact that growth happens in the context of healthy relationships. The benefit of professional counseling is that you are working with a trained professional who is licensed by the State of Texas (and Dr. James in Florida) to provide therapy in a confidential, and absolutely nonjudgmental environment.
The name of our practice is 246 Counseling because Scripture tells us in Proverbs 24:6 that "by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory" (ESV). The reality of life is that at some point we will all face difficult times, and may even feel like we are in a war. We believe that it is impossible to see true victory in our battles when we do life alone. For this reason, we work hard to meet our clients where they are on the journey and walk with them each step of the way toward growth and healing. This is a privilege and an honor that we do not take lightly.
While we are a group of Christian therapists who operate from this worldview and our name is rooted in Scripture, it is important to note that we work with clients of all belief systems and backgrounds. It is unethical, and not therapeutic, for us to impose our beliefs on our clients - though, for those who wish to make their faith part of their treatment process we are always happy to oblige.
At 246 Counseling, we do not take a cookie cutter approach to therapy, we will tailor therapy to the individual. We will work with you to establish realistic goals, and achieve them! We have a growing team of therapists and work hard to match you with the person on our team who will best meet your needs.
We would love to talk with you more about how counseling might be beneficial. Please give us a call for a free 10 minute consultation. If we do not answer, we are likely in session - please leave a message or send a text, and one of our licensed therapists will return your call. You can also reach out via email if that is more convenient or comfortable for you.
